Sartell Soccer Association is committed to identifying, recruiting, and training talented staff coaches. It is our goal to build a quality coaching staff that can provide consistently high-caliber training to players at all age groups and levels of play. Sartell Soccer Association will work hard to provide each team with the best coach available.

We value parent coaches and will work to provide the tools and training necessary to develop teams and players to their full potential. It is our goal to have 100% of our coaches licensed by either United Soccer Coaches or US Soccer.

Coach Responsibilities:

Our Travel Program is supported by a dedicated team of volunteers to ensure a positive and organized experience for players and families. For each team, we recruit a Head Coach, an Assistant Coach, and a Team Manager.

  • The Head Coach leads team practices, develops strategies, and fosters skill growth.
  • The Assistant Coach supports the Head Coach in training sessions and provides additional guidance to players.
  • The Team Manager handles administrative tasks, such as coordinating schedules, communicating with families, and ensuring smooth logistics throughout the season.

As a coach, you play a vital role in the success of our teams and the overall enjoyment of our players and families. Together, these roles create a well-rounded support system, helping young athletes thrive on and off the field.
Below are the key responsibilities and expectations to guide your efforts:

Communication

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for coaches, players, parents, and the association.
  • Keep everyone informed about schedules, events, and updates to ensure smooth coordination.

Organization

  • If no team manager is assigned, maintain accurate records of key documents and ensure team information is up-to-date and accessible.

Creating a Positive Environment:

  • Promote good sportsmanship, teamwork, and a passion for the game.
  • Foster an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere for all players and their families.

Club Policies and Guidelines:

  • Familiarize yourself with the coaching handbook, including policies on training frequency, game-to-practice ratios, session duration, and the skill development matrix.
  • Ensure players are developing skills appropriate for their age group.

Required Trainings:

Coaches are required to complete all mandatory trainings before the season starts to be eligible to coach their team(s). These training requirements are in place to prioritize the safety and well-being of our players. Coaches must complete these steps on time to be eligible to coach their team(s).

MYSA Background Check:

MYSA and SSA require coaches to complete a background check annually. Once submitted, SSA will be notified automatically, and no further action is needed.
